Katz Contemporary

KATZ CONTEMPORARY, founded by Frédérique Hutter in 2008 concentrates primarily on contemporary art. The gallery shows emerging artists, whose support and promotion is an essential goal of ours, as well as established artists of the international scene. One of the aspects of the program is to confront works by young artists with those of established names, ranging from painting, drawing, and installations to photography. In addition the gallery regularly invites prominent international artists for solo shows, mostly for their first exhibition in Switzerland.

KATZ CONTEMPORARY is located in a 200m2 space on the ground floor of the building “Haus zur Katz” in the heart of Zurich, a few steps from the Paradeplatz and Bahnhofstrasse. The architectural partition of the gallery allows two simultaneous exhibition spaces; the front room opens to the bustling Talstrasse, while the quieter back room faces the Sihl River. The basement is used as a “show room”, where young artists are exhibited independently from current exhibitions.
