Die Malerei von Joachim Grommek (*1957) täuscht einen falschen Eindruck vor, in dem sich dann doch ihre ganze Wahrheit offenbart. Der in Berlin lebende Künstler bringt eine frappierende Trompe-l'œil-Technik zum Einsatz, die er mit Codes ungegenständlicher Bildsprachen kreuzt. So agiert die Abstraktion auf doppeltem Boden: What you see is what you see - aber doch auch pure Illusion.
