La galleria Dabbeni di Lugano può essere considerata l´unica testimone storica rimasta sul territorio ticinese di un´epoca di particolare effervescenza. Felice Dabbeni - padre di Tiziano Dabbeni -, trasferitosi dall´Italia alla fine degli anni ´70, apre il suo spazio espositivo in Corso Pestalozzi 1. Era l´epoca in cui alcune gallerie cominciavano ad affiancare aspetti mercantili e attitudini ideologiche, assumendosi esplicitamente le responsabilità e diventando esse stesse promotrici di una concezione programmatica e meno élitaria dell´arte.
