«Das Grosse Rasenstück» ist eines von vielen Kunstprojekten, die im Zuge der FIFA WM subventioniert wurden. Im Vergleich zu anderen Ausstellung zum gerade so beliebten Thema «Kunst und Fussball» zeichnet sich die Schau dadurch aus, dass es gar nicht primär ums runde Leder geht, sondern um das heikle Thema (zeitgenössische) Kunst und öffentlicher Raum.
