In seinen ausgefeilten Film- und Videoarbeiten und grossformatigen Fotografien gräbt der kanadische Künstler in der Vorgeschichte der Moderne und stellt ihre gern ausgeblendeten dunklen Aspekte ins Licht. Eine grosse Retrospektive in Stuttgart präsentiert mit 14 Film- und Videoinstallationen sowie mehr als 120 Fotografien annähernd Douglas' gesamtes bisheriges Œuvre.
