Simone Aaberg Kærn macht das Abenteuer zur Kunst und umgekehrt. Mit einem Kleinflugzeug ist sie von Dänemark nach Afghanistan, mitten ins Kriegsgebiet, geflogen, um dort einem Mädchen das Fliegen beizubringen. In ihrer retrospektiv angelegten Ausstellung «Open Sky» im Kunstmuseum Thun thematisiert die Künstlerin die Rolle der Frau in der Fliegerei, vor allem aber ist die Luft für sie ein Raum zum Träumen, ein symbolischer Freiraum, den es mit allen Mitteln zu verteidigen gilt.
