Was man gemeinhin das Betriebssystem Kunst nennt, ist nicht nur Resultat erhöhter Reflexion und Selbstreflexion von Kunst, wie sie an die institutionelle Kunsttheorie gekoppelt ist. Ja, vielleicht sind (Selbst-)Reflexion und institutionelle Kritik nicht sosehr der Grund, auf dem sich das «Betriebssystem» erhebt, sondern lediglich ihr Effekt. Von dieser Warte aus wären (Selbst-)Reflexion und Kritik vor allem ein Symptom einer erhöhten Professionalisierung dessen, was man künstlerische Tätigkeit nennt.
