Kunst ist ein dicht beschriebenes Zeichengewebe und Referenzen sind ihr Material. Mit dieser Auffassung entfaltet der in Hamburg lebende Jan Timme (*1971) poetisch hintergründige Arbeiten und knüpft dabei insbesondere an Duchamp, also ans «Grosse Glas» und die Ready-mades, aber auch an Filme etwa von Hitchcock, Carné oder Marker an.
