Doris Lasch

It is not always possible to tell if Lasch and Ponn's images are found photographs, restagings of found images or documentation of the artists' installations. Ultimately, it is the fantasy of the interior that is evoked. I am reminded of all those times when I have peered at small images of a writer's study or artist's studio in hopes that the interior will yield evidence of the creative life. Lasch and Ponn's installation challenges the privileg-ing of the interior as the setting that makes the private self visible - that is, the assumption that the interior provides evidence of interiority.
