«Il n´existe aucun travail institutionnel et patrimonial sur la photographie dans les pays arabes. On ne peut plus attendre», tel était le constat d´une poignée d´artistes libanais lorsqu´ils créèrent en 1997 la Fondation Arabe pour
l´Image à Beyrouth. Akram Zaatari et Walid Ra´ad, deux membres de la fondation, présentent dans l´exposition itinérante «Mapping Sitting», une partie de ce patrimoine photographique issu des quatre coins du Moyen-Orient au Centre pour l´image contemporaine à Saint-Gervais.
