Robert Wilson
Robert Wilson (*1941, Waco, Texas) ist ein US-amerikanischer Regisseur, Theaterautor, Künstler, Lichtdesigner, Bühnenbilder und Architekt.
Nach seiner Ausbildung an der Universität Texas und dem Pratt Institute Brooklin gründete er Mitte der Sechzigerjahre das Performance-Kollektiv ‹The Byrd Hoffman School of Byrds› und entwickelte Werke wie ‹Deafman Glance› (1970), ‹A Letter for Queen Victoria› (1974‐1975) sowie – in Kooperation mit Philip Glass – die Oper ‹Einstein on the Beach› (1976). Wilson arbeitete mit Künstler wie Heiner Müller, Tom Waits, Susan Sontag, Laurie Anderson, William Burroughs, Lou Reed und Jessye Norman zusammen und ist der Gründer und künstlerische Leiter von ‹The Watermill Center›, ein Labor für Kunst in Water Mill, New York.
