Die Beziehungen Ilya Kabakovs zu Zug sind intenisv. Dem gläsernen unterkühlten Bahnhofsbau setzte er einen subversiv tröpfelnden Trinkbrunnen entgegen. Fürs Kunsthaus entwickelte er 2010 die Idee eines öffentlichen Sammlungsarchivs. Nun zeigt das Haus Kabakovs Werke ab 1965 aus Schweizer Privatbesitz.
