Fondé en 1986 dans le but de promouvoir un dialogue artistique entre la Suisse et les Etats-Unis, le Swiss Institute est devenu – avec Marc-Olivier Wahler à sa direction artistique – un centre entièrement dédié à l’art contemporain. Ses expositions tantôt dérangent, tantôt stimulent ceux qui, installés dans un confort académique, tendraient à s’assoupir.
